UGC agency pricing and retainer costs compared

UGC agencies in the US price their work three ways: per video, as a project package, or as a monthly retainer. Published rate guides put a single creator video at roughly $150 to $300, with agencies adding a margin usually quoted between 20 and 50 percent, and paid usage rights and rush delivery often billed on top. A done-for-you subscription such as UgcVids prices finished videos from $49 a month for one video to $1,199 a month for forty.

How much does a UGC agency charge

Most US UGC agencies charge somewhere between $150 and $500 per finished video once their margin, editing and paid usage rights are added, and monthly retainers commonly start in the low thousands. The spread is wide because "a video" can mean a raw creator clip or a fully scripted ad cut in three sizes. Always ask which one is being quoted.

The pricing model tells you as much as the number. Here is how the four common offers you will get compare.

If you are still deciding whether to hire a ugc agency at all, the agency page explains how our fixed plans compare with a classic agency setup.

What is included in a UGC agency retainer

A typical UGC agency retainer covers creative strategy, creator sourcing and contracts, scripts, product shipping coordination, editing, a set number of revision rounds and some reporting. What it rarely covers by default is long paid usage, whitelisting, raw footage and extra hooks. Those are the lines that turn a reasonable quote into an expensive one.

When a proposal lands, read it for these items and ask for each to be priced or written in:

  • Usage rights. Organic posting is cheap. Paid ads usage for 30, 90 or 365 days is where agencies and creators add 30 to 50 percent. Our guide to ugc usage rights covers the terms worth negotiating.
  • Whitelisting and Spark Ads. Running ads from the creator's own handle needs separate permission and often a monthly fee per creator.
  • Raw footage. Without it you cannot recut a winner, and you pay for a new shoot every time you want a new hook.
  • Hook and CTA variants. Three opening lines per video triple your tests for little extra filming.
  • Creator tier. Agencies often price "premium" or niche creators higher, sometimes without saying so upfront.
  • Rush delivery. Turnarounds under a week commonly add 25 to 50 percent.

Why UGC agency quotes vary so much

Two agencies can quote $1,500 and $6,000 for the same ten videos because they are selling different amounts of work. The main drivers are agency margin, creator tier, how much editing happens, account management time and the minimum term. Strategy-heavy agencies bill for calls, decks and reporting; production-light shops mostly resell creator time.

Margin is the part you never see. Pricing guides for influencer and UGC services describe agency markups anywhere from 20 to 50 percent over what the creator is paid. That is not unfair in itself, because the agency carries sourcing, contracts, reshoots and late creators. It just means that comparing an agency quote with a single freelancer's rate card is comparing two different products.

How to compare UGC agency quotes

Normalize every quote to one number: cost per finished, ad-ready video with the paid rights you need. Divide the total monthly cost, including fees, rights and editing you would do yourself, by the number of videos you can upload to Ads Manager without further work. The cheapest headline price often loses this test.

Before you sign, get written answers to these questions:

  • Which platforms and how long may we run each video as a paid ad?
  • Do we receive raw footage, and who owns it?
  • How many revision rounds per video, and what does an extra round cost?
  • Are 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 all included, with captions and licensed music?
  • What is the minimum term and the notice period to cancel?
  • How many hook variants come with each video?
  • How long from an approved script to the first finished files?

The same checklist works for creator bundles and marketplaces, which we lay out side by side in ugc video packages. For the cost of each line item on its own, see ugc video cost.

A worked example for ten videos a month

Take a DTC skincare brand that needs ten new ads a month for TikTok and Meta. These are illustrative numbers, not a market statistic, so plug in your own quotes.

OptionHow the price is builtMonthly costPer finished video
Per video agency$250 base per video plus 30 percent for 90 days of paid usage$3,250$325
UgcVids Scale, monthly billing15 finished videos, paid rights, 3 sizes, 2 A/B variants and raw footage included$499$33.27
UgcVids Scale, yearly billingSame plan billed yearly$249$16.60

The agency in this example would also run strategy calls and might handle whitelisting, which has value if you have no in-house marketer. If you already have someone launching and reading ads, you are paying for work you do yourself.

Finished files are only half the job. Somebody still has to set budgets, launch tests and kill losers every few days. If that person does not exist yet, an AI media buyer can take a product URL and a budget and run the campaigns, which pairs well with a steady monthly supply of creatives.

UGC agency vs marketplace vs subscription

Agencies sell strategy plus production, marketplaces sell access to creators, and subscriptions sell a fixed number of finished videos. Choose by how much of the work you want to keep in house, then compare price.

If a marketplace is on your shortlist, we compared the two most common ones in billo alternatives and our joinbrands alternative page, with each tool's own published pricing.

An agency is the right call in a few cases, and it is worth being honest about them. A big product launch that needs positioning work, a campaign that depends on creators posting to their own audiences, heavy whitelisting across dozens of handles, or custom production with sets and actors all justify a retainer. For a steady monthly flow of ad creatives, they usually do not.

Is a UGC agency worth it

A UGC agency is worth it when you need strategy and production from one partner and have the budget for a retainer in the thousands. If your team already knows what to test and only needs finished, rights-cleared videos every month, a fixed plan gives you the same output for a fraction of the cost and without calls.

That is the gap UgcVids fills. You send one brief a month, we write scripts with hook options, match creators, ship product details, edit in 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 with captions and music, and deliver files with paid ads rights on every platform. Starter is $49 for one video, Growth $199 for five, Scale $499 for fifteen with raw footage, and Studio $1,199 for forty with seats for each client team. Yearly billing halves each price. The full breakdown is on ugc video pricing, and the step by step flow is on how ugc video production works.

If you run an agency yourself and buy UGC for several clients, Studio is built for that, and the ugc agency page shows how teams use it.
