UgcVids

Unboxing video service with real creators and ad-ready edits

An unboxing video shows the moment a customer opens your package for the first time, and that moment sells. With the UgcVids unboxing video service, a matched creator receives your product, films the reveal in their own home, and we deliver an edited ad with hooks, captions and paid ads usage rights included in your monthly plan.

Why viewers stop for an unboxing

Unboxing answers the questions a shopper cannot ask through a screen. What does it look like in real hands, how big is it, what comes in the box, does it feel worth the price. A creator opening the package on camera answers all of that in seconds, without a voiceover that sounds like an ad.

It also borrows the anticipation of a delivery. The viewer waits for the reveal, which makes it a natural format for the first two seconds of a paid ad on TikTok, Instagram Reels or Meta feed.

  • Strong for physical products with packaging worth showing
  • Works for first purchase campaigns, launches and gift season
  • Pairs well with a short testimonial or demo cut later in the same video

How we structure an unboxing ad

Every unboxing we script follows a structure built for paid social, not for long reviews. A typical video under 45 seconds looks like this.

  1. Hook, 0 to 2 seconds: the package in frame with an on-screen line, such as a creator saying "I finally ordered the vitamin C serum everyone keeps asking about"

  2. Reveal, 2 to 8 seconds: opening the box, first look at the product, a natural reaction

  3. Contents, 8 to 18 seconds: what is inside, size in hand, texture, accessories or inserts

  4. First use, 18 to 32 seconds: a quick try, application or setup that shows the product doing its job

  5. Close, last seconds: one sentence on why it is worth it and a call to action on screen

On Growth and above you get 3 hook options per video and A/B variants that swap the hook or the closing line using the same footage. Starter videos run up to 30 seconds with 1 hook, so we compress the reveal and first use into a tighter cut.

The shots every unboxing includes

Our team writes a shot list for each video and the creator follows it. You approve it with the script before filming.

Natural light, phone framing and real homes keep the video native to the feed. We avoid studio lighting and staged sets, because they read as an ad before the viewer hears a word.

  1. 1 Doorstep or table shot of the sealed package, phone held at chest height
  2. 2 Overhead shot of the box opening, hands in frame
  3. 3 Close-up of the product as it comes out, slowed slightly in the edit
  4. 4 Product held next to the face or in hand to show real size
  5. 5 Detail shots of texture, label, buttons or inserts
  6. 6 First use in the setting where the product belongs, such as a bathroom shelf, a kitchen counter or a desk
  7. 7 Reaction shot facing the camera for the closing line

What to send the creator

Once the creator is approved, the order panel shows the shipping address. Ship the product exactly as a paying customer receives it, because the packaging is the subject of the video.

  • The full retail package, sealed, with outer shipping box if it is branded
  • Any inserts, thank-you cards, samples or accessories a real customer gets
  • One extra unit if the product is consumed during filming, such as a single-serve snack or a sample sachet
  • Short usage notes in the brief if the first use needs a specific step
  • Must-say and never-say lines, especially for claims about ingredients, results or safety

For products with variants, tell us in the brief which shade, flavor or size to feature. We film one variant per video unless the brief asks for a lineup.

Packaging that films well

Packaging does a lot of work in an unboxing. A few practical choices make the reveal stronger without redesigning anything.

  • Use a branded outer box or tape if you have one, since a plain shipping carton makes a weak first frame

  • Keep tissue, stickers or seals that create a small moment of opening

  • Avoid shrink wrap that reflects light and hides the label on camera

  • Put the hero product on top so it appears first, not under paperwork

  • Include a printed card with one memorable line, since creators often read it aloud

  • If the product is small, ship it in a box proportionate to it, so the reveal does not look empty

None of this is required. A creator can make a standard package look good, but these details give the edit more to work with.

What you receive

Each unboxing video arrives edited with captions, licensed music and an end card, cut in 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 so it runs on TikTok, Reels, Meta feed and YouTube Shorts. Paid ads usage rights are included in every plan, and Scale and Studio also include raw footage for your own recuts.

The clock starts when the product reaches the creator, and finished unboxings usually reach your panel 10 to 14 business days after an approved script. Unboxing counts as one video in your monthly allowance, like any other format. See ugc video pricing for the number of videos, hooks and variants in each plan, or explore other formats such as testimonial video production company cuts and ugc ads built for testing.

Unboxing questions

Does the creator keep the product

Yes, in most cases the creator keeps the product after filming. If you need it returned, write that in the brief and include a prepaid return label.

Can you film an unboxing for a subscription box or bundle

Yes. For boxes with several items we script the reveal item by item and pick the two or three that matter most for the close.

Can the unboxing include a short review

Yes. Many of our unboxing scripts end with a first impression. For a longer review format, a testimonial video is the better fit.
